Components

  • 100g butter
  • 125g caster sugar
  • 75g mild brown or muscovado sugar
  • 125g plain chocolate (plain or milk)
  • 1 tbsp golden syrup
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract/essence
  • 100g plain flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder

Methodology

  • STEP 1

    Warmth oven to 180C/fan 160C/gasoline 4. Grease and line a 20cm cake tin.

  • STEP 2

    Place the butter, caster sugar, brown sugar, chocolate and golden syrup within the pan and soften gently on a low warmth till it’s easy and lump-free.

  • STEP 3

    Take away the pan from the warmth.

  • STEP 4

    Break the eggs into the bowl and whisk with the fork till mild and frothy. 5 Add the eggs, vanilla extract or essence, flour, baking powder and cocoa powder to the chocolate combination and blend completely.

  • STEP 5

    Put the combination into the greased and lined cake tin and place on the center shelf of the oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes.

  • STEP 6

    Take away and permit to chill for 20-30 minutes earlier than slicing into wedges and serving.

  • STEP 7

    Serve with cream or ice cream and loads of contemporary fruit.
