
Straightforward gingerbread recipe for youths
Make adorning these lovely gingerbread males even simpler (and fewer messy!) with tubes of shop-bought icing and sweets. Get the youngsters concerned too

- 175g darkish muscovado sugar
- 85g golden syrup
- 100g butter
- 350g plain flour, plus further for dusting
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 1 tbsp floor ginger
- 1 tsp floor cinnamon
- 1 egg, overwhelmed

Technique
- STEP 1
Soften the sugar, golden syrup and butter in a saucepan, then bubble for 1-2 minutes. Go away to chill for about 10 minutes.
- STEP 2
Tip the flour, bicarbonate of soda and spices into a big bowl.
